I think tattooing is a form of art. Maybe is because of our surrounding that tattooing is usually associated to secret society. But if you take a look at other countries' tattooing. U will feel that is a form of art. Usually the things that they tattoo has a theme behind it. Its beautiful. And to me, thats a form of art people tattoo on their body. I dont think that tattoo should be disencouraged among the youth. However, it should not be encouraged for those who are still schooling.
Yes i do agree with Alvin that tattooing is a form of art.
However, it doesn't necessary means that its a bad thing.
The misconception of the society often thinks that having a tattoo means you are interlinked with the secret society thus, people have very bad ideas on tattooing.
Youth should have rights to choose want they want. It's their life that they are going to lead in future. They should have some responsibility for their actions. Thus, i feel that there isn't a necessity to discourage youth from tattooing.
Is tattooing a form of art? Ridiculous! For me, I do not encourage tattooing. I heard many cases that when tattooing, you will feel the pain and tattoos will follow you a lifetime. Many people regretted after a few years since tattooing. They want to remove them. Although, there are now specialists to remove tattoos, but the pain, compared to tattooing, cannot be described using words. Why the need for tattoos? After tattooing, you will be in the attention of the people outside. They will think that you are bad person.
SAY NO TO TATTOO!!~~ To some people they may think that tattoo is a form of art but to me it is definitely not. Firstly, tattoo is a waste of money. Secondly, people want to have tattoo is due to trend. But if we were sit down and to think properly it isn't cool at all. It HURTS neither it is a form of art =.=" Furthermore, many people regretted tattoo after they have it for a few months. They wanted to remove it. But they do not know that removing the tattoo will hurt more than putting it on at first. Therefore, tattooing should not be encouraged to youths in Singapore.
._. Somehow I agree with Alvin and Geena. Yeah I think that tattooing is definitely a form of art. ~~
I do not think tattooing should be discouraged among youths in Singapore. Why? What's wrong with 'adding colors' your OWN body? Its your own body. And of course you yourself should be responsible for your own act. Do things, no regrets~
AND yes, I seriously think those who relate tattooing to being a bad person, they are just being narrow-minded.
Why do people tattoo? I think it’s because people want to attract attention from the public and power up their authority. I agree with Alvin Tan we will definitely feel the pain when we choose to tattoo on our bodies. On the other hand, I also agree with Xueqi that it all depends on one’s decision as to whether they want to have tattoos on their bodies or not. If that person is determined to tattoo their bodies, they are definitely willing to endure the pain.
Furthermore, in my opinion, people in secret society may feel that tattoo is a form of art as it symbolizes authority. For instance, a dragon design tattoo on them may reflect that they are superior to others and others must “take orders” from them.
To conclude, I feel that in Singapore’s society today, youths should be discouraged from tattooing, as it is still not widely accepted by the public (especially the older generation. People still think to a certain extent that a person with tattoos portray a bad image. Perhaps in a couple of years’ time, tattoos maybe even a common sight on the street!
I consider it as a form of art. Tattooing is the same thing as drawing a picture. Just on a different canvas.
Again, back to the conservativeness of human thinking lead this issue to the wrong path.
Think, when you draw on a piece of paper, will people consider you as a bad person? It’s the same thing when you tattoo isn’t it, just that you do it on your own body, your own skin and I believe there is nothing wrong since its your own body and nobody can stop you from having a piece of art in your skin as the canvas.
It’s clear cut that it depends on the person’s decision on whether they want to have it or not. Pain is not the issue here.
For those who shared the thoughts that a person with tattoo is a bad person, you should think twice for being such a narrow person. Think if someone you love has tattoo on his/her body, will you dump them as well? Well, I guess not.
Tattooing is in no way a form of art.You are inflicting pain upon yourself for a picture permanently engraved on your body and as your body ages, the tattoo will also start to be disfigured. Many people have regretted tattooing after they have it for some time and removing it not only costs a lot of money,it also causes more pain.
When an individual tattoos, there is nothing wrong as it is their own body after all,but when a community starts tattooing,it is no longer a matter of whether it is their own bodies or not,it will affect what other people think about them.If you are doing a survey, would you chose to approach a group of people with tattoos all over their bodies? Furthermore,if tattooing were to be encouraged, people from other countries will start to viewed Singapore as a low-class country.
like what many people said, tatoo is a form of art. it is nice i agree, but whoever wants to have one will have to bear the pain and whatever that will happen on your body. i wouldn't have one as i don't think it is necessary. it is painful and removing more painful. i also heard there may be skin diseases if your skin is sensitive or allergic. lastly it costs!
To some , tattooing is a form of art. But i dont agree. why do people tattoo? just for the art or fun? i think people tattoo to make them "cool" and let people "fear" of them. Yes people have their choose to be tatooed or not but i find it stupid when people go tatooing. its a very painful process . Mostly are teenagers getting tatooed but when they grow up and decided to remove it will again-be a painful process again. The cost of tatooing and removing it cost alot of money too. However we should respect their decision cause its their bodies not ours.
tatoo is a form of art. for example, Maya, the SG idol runner-up. she too have tatoos, for the sake of artistic value.
some tatoos have really nice designs like tribal shape. but those Chinese Dragons and many other forms are in a way very vulgar to me. those, are not art.
Tattooing is a form of art. The design can be small and discreet or large and obvious. This art used to express individually to indicate membership in a group or to attract or to boost one creativity. However I feel that tattooing is not be encourage among the Singapore youth because firstly such body modification carries with it the risk of health problem of ranging from minor bacterial infections to life –treating illness such as skin disorder. Secondly I feel that it is abuse for the natural growth rights and it bring sufferings and painless during the tattooing processes. Thirdly, I also think that tattooing is too expensive and students should not spend their parents’ money on such unworthy stuff. Moreover , students can boost their creativity on other area but not on body tattooing. Hence , today I make a stand that Singapore youth should not be encourage to go for tattooing unless they are willingly to suffer for the worst consciences.
I seriously think that tattooing is a form of art. Yes, it might not be accepted by some people. It might be due to the way they think. No offence but I felt that some people are way too narrow minded.
And, i agreed that tattoo hurts. I never attempt before. But from what i heard from my brother, who has tattoos on his body. The pain is unbearable. But since he decided to get a tattoo, he should endure whatever pain, and he did.
I came across some articles on tattooing that people all over the countries are going to Japan to get a full body tattoo that costs more than US$30,000. The reason they are willing to pay this amount because Japan tattooing is done by traditional tattoo artists. The tattoo they do, to me, is consider to be an artpiece. Thats explained why some people would go to the extra miles just to get tattooing on their body.
Afterall, the surrounding usually affects ones thinking. Perhaps seeing gangsters with tattoos will lead some to think that normal people with tattoo are also a bad person.
In my own opinion,I think tattooing is just another way for people to express themselves.
In this open society, having tattoos does not always lead to negative responses. In fact,we can see that more and more people having tattoos.Unlike in the past, having tattos is not indicate as gangster anymore.I think we need to follow the change of the world.
Having tattoos means a part of gangsters?Maybe you watch to much movies, haha~
Yes! I do agree with some of them that tattoo is a form of art. And I think different tattoo can actually symbolise different things. There could be many different meanings regarding to the tattoo. It's just how you want to interpret it. And this is why i believe that tattoo is a form of art. So i will say that tattooing is not an illegal thing to do!
In my opinion, tattooing is a form of art. It takes a lot of time, confidence and experience to make sure that the customer leave with a smile because of the outcome of the tattoo.
On another hand, i don't encourage youth like us to do tattooing. Tattooing is going to stay on a human body for a life time.
My colleague, in my part time job, who is 30 now, told me that she regretted tattooing when she was young. She tried removing her tattooing in a wrong way which left ugly scars on her body.

Certainly, even a coin has two sides.
Tattooing is definitely a form of art.
The decision ultimately lies on yourself if you wants a tattoo.
People has different reasons for getting a tattoo.
They might want attention, to scare people, to appreciate it etc.
We should respect their decision as its their body. At the end of the day, they have to be responsible for their decision.
We cannot condemn their decisions just because we don't agree with them.
